Celebrating 10 Years of Transformation!
This October, we gathered in Portland to celebrate our 10th year of service to teens in Portland Public Schools! Since launching in 2014, Peace in Schools has served over 6,000 teens and 1,700 educators. It was wonderful to spend the evening with our long-time partners and supporters as well as meeting new friends of Peace in Schools!
The evening was such a nourishing experience, with lots of opportunities to look back at a visual timeline of the history of Peace in Schools and hear more about our vision for the future. Attendees were also able to get an experiential glimpse into our Mindful Studies class at our Classroom Corner where our teachers facilitated short mindfulness lessons throughout the evening!
We heard from a number of folks in our community, including Peace in Schools Founder & Lead Contemplative Caverly Morgan, Executive Director Janice Martellucci, Jill Bryant, the Social Emotional Learning Assistant Director for Portland Public Schools, current Mindful Studies student Hazel, and Mindful Studies alumni Zoë. We welcome you to watch a recording of Zoë’s speech below!
We are truly honored to have had the opportunity to offer transformative teen-centered mindfulness education for the past ten years and are so excited to continue to expand our reach to support students in more communities in Portland and beyond! Thank you so much to all those who attended the event, and to those who donated to support our work. Cheers to how far we’ve come, and to the decade ahead!
