Meet the Team! Our Interview with Partnership Program Manager, Jamal Pearce

This month, we’re excited to highlight our Partnership Program Manager, Jamal Pearce. Jamal joined Peace in Schools June of 2023 and handles partnership development and manages our Mindful Studies Partnership Program.

When did you begin your mindfulness practice?

I don't have an official mindfulness practice, but I became aware of the value of mindfulness in 2018 during my freshman year of college. I used meditation to regulate my emotions and manage the stress of classes and work.

What is unique about the Peace in School’s approach?

Peace in Schools’ approach is unique because we lead holistically in everything we do. We are constantly looking for ways to be better stewards of mindfulness practices.

What has working at Peace in Schools taught you about yourself and your practice?

Working at Peace in Schools has taught me that I am enough. I’ve always felt as if I didn't fit in in many environments, but Peace in Schools has taught me I’m right where I belong.

What is your favorite part about working for Peace in Schools?

My favorite part of working at Peace in Schools is conversing with colleagues. Peace in Schools has some of the most diverse leaders I’ve ever worked with, so I always enjoy learning from our shared life experiences.
